New Site Is Up And Running!

Welcome To The New ACW Site

I am officially set up now on the new Squarespace 6 website platform. I have been playing around with the various templates over the last couple of days, and I am starting to get the hang of it. You will continue to see changes as I try the different templates and add galleries.

Squarespace 6 has a lot of new features and better functionality over version 5. I can see these helping me to connect with my woodworking audience, and to better share my experience and knowledge.

The Bad News Is...

Sadly, my workshop gallery is down for the moment. The new template was incompatible with previous gallery, so I will have to completely repost the shop tour. I know by the website stats, the workshop tour is the most popular feature and the pictures are downloaded constantly. And that is OK, that is exactly what it is intended for, to share and inspire, that is what the ACW philosophy of "Share the Love-Share the Knowledge" is all about.

Due to the time consuming work of loading galleries, I will hold off until I determine which template I am going to settle on. Some features are specific to templates and that mostly applies to the way galleries are laid out and function. So I will need to make my final decision between the last 2 template finalists.

Stay Tuned-

Stay tuned as you will see the changes taking place and more content being added.

I will continue tweaking the site, add the ACW Shop Tour back in, and get my portfolio gallery set up. I did not add my portfolio on the last site, but I will on this one. (It is partly due to just being plain time consuming and it is one area that I actually slacked on.)

So give the site a test drive on all your devices and let me know of any issues. I did let the developers know of a couple and I appreciate your feedback.

Well, I better get back out to the shop. So be sure to stop by the Shopcam page and see what I have going in my small pro shop.

Testing-Testing 1-2-3

You will notice changes to my site.

I'm Working On It!

I am in the process of changing from the SquareSpace 5 platform I have been using to the new SquareSpace 6 platform. And this is my first entry on the new SS6 platform!

SquareSpace 6 is entirely re-written over version 5 so I am learning a whole new platform. I really liked SS5, but can see the benefits of using the new SS6, so I made the move.

You will notice that the site is stripped down to the basic Blog page and About page. While I test drive the various templates, I want to deal with the least amount of details possible. So for the moment, pages will come and go, but everything will be back in the near future.

Since I will be testing different templates you will see changes in the overall style once in a while. I am not only learning a new website platform, but I am also planning site layout so that it is clean and easy to navigate.

So, I have a few things to learn and all of this is going on while still running my business and trying to get content out for the woodworkers.

That is all I have for now, I just wanted to give everyone a heads up while I learn the new SS6. I even posted a photo just so I could try it. The image shows me working on the planer just as I am working on my website.

I appreciate any comments and feedback that I may consider, and it will also give me an opportunity to try the interaction experience on the new platform.

Thanks for your patience!

The Woodworking Shows Visits Columbus, OH

Hey Everybody! I just want to throw out a reminder to all my woodworking friends back in my central Ohio (my old stomping grounds) that The Woodworking Shows will be in Columbus at the Ohio Expo Center starting Friday, March 1 and running through Sunday, March 3.

Be sure to head to the Woodworking Shows to see a great furniture maker, and my good friend, Andy Chidwick. Andy teaches sculpted furniture techniques in Stephensville, Montana and he will be giving seminars at The Woodworking Shows.

Not only does Andy have a great talent for designing and building furniture, he is a skilled teacher when it comes to sharing the knowledge with others. He is truly another “Share the Love~Share the Knowledge” kind of guy.

Andy's work is displayed in various galleries, and most recently, Andy and I both participated in a fine woodworking exhibition at the Museum of the Rockies in Bozeman, Montana. In fact, one of the chairs he had on display at the museum, is on tour with him now and you will be able to see it for yourself.

So, for all my woodworking friends in central Ohio, be sure to get to the Ohio Expo Center this weekend and say "Hi" to Andy, and catch one of his informative seminars on making sculpted furniture. He is a great guy and willing to share all kinds of woodworking information.

There are some other great woodworkers and teachers at The Woodworking Shows. Furniture makers and master woodworkers Chuck Bender from Acanthus Workshop and Paul Sellers who founded the New Legacy School of Woodworking. Wood Magazine is represented by editor and instructor Jim Heavey. There are others, but you can check The Woodworking Shows website to see the list.

Here's the 411:
