How I Sell My Woodworking Projects

In this video I answer one of the most common questions that I get from woodworkers: How do I sell my woodworking projects?

Since I can offer only one point of view and experience, I also interviewed 3 other woodworkers and will release what they share in the next videos that follow.

Even though we are all woodworkers, we all build different things and have different experiences in selling our items. This will provide a lot more information and inspiration to anybody looking to sell their woodworking projects.

For those interested in reading woodworking business magazines I recommend WoodShop News and Cabinet Maker FDM. These magazines directly address the business of woodworking and manufacturing.

If you are interested in becoming part of a professional community of online woodworkers, I recommend WoodWeb. Warning: WoodWeb is very strict about members being professional woodworkers and wood shops, hobbyists are ejected and blocked. There are plenty of online communities dedicated to hobby woodworkers so WoodWeb has worked hard to keep itself the best destination for pro's to gather and support each other.

The Woodworking Shows Visits Columbus, OH

Hey Everybody! I just want to throw out a reminder to all my woodworking friends back in my central Ohio (my old stomping grounds) that The Woodworking Shows will be in Columbus at the Ohio Expo Center starting Friday, March 1 and running through Sunday, March 3.

Be sure to head to the Woodworking Shows to see a great furniture maker, and my good friend, Andy Chidwick. Andy teaches sculpted furniture techniques in Stephensville, Montana and he will be giving seminars at The Woodworking Shows.

Not only does Andy have a great talent for designing and building furniture, he is a skilled teacher when it comes to sharing the knowledge with others. He is truly another “Share the Love~Share the Knowledge” kind of guy.

Andy's work is displayed in various galleries, and most recently, Andy and I both participated in a fine woodworking exhibition at the Museum of the Rockies in Bozeman, Montana. In fact, one of the chairs he had on display at the museum, is on tour with him now and you will be able to see it for yourself.

So, for all my woodworking friends in central Ohio, be sure to get to the Ohio Expo Center this weekend and say "Hi" to Andy, and catch one of his informative seminars on making sculpted furniture. He is a great guy and willing to share all kinds of woodworking information.

There are some other great woodworkers and teachers at The Woodworking Shows. Furniture makers and master woodworkers Chuck Bender from Acanthus Workshop and Paul Sellers who founded the New Legacy School of Woodworking. A Visit From Andy Chidwick On The Sawdust Tour

Andy Chidwick is a good friend and fellow furniture maker. He & his family are currently travelling with The Woodworking Shows. As he travels the country, going from show to show, he is stopping to visit woodworkers along the way and recording interviews. He calls this The Sawdust Tour.

Since Andy lives in western Montana, and had to travel due east to Baltimore for the first show, he had to pass through Billings. I was honored to have him make the American Craftsman Workshop his first stop on the Sawdust Tour.

In this video we talk a little bit about my current projects and how I function in the shop. There are some gold nuggets of information on shop workflow and a peek into my life as a pro woodworker.

While Andy does the interviews, is son Tano is acting as videographer. The endeavor is truly a family event.
